Web1 Feb 2024 · Conclusions. In this paper we present experimental evidence on the psychological effects of poverty on time preferences. We study farmers in Uganda, exogenously manipulate the extent of their thinking about financial pre-occupations and then measure their intertemporal choices in an entertainment discounting task.
